Join the Academy of Creative Photography on an exciting Photographic Safari weekend.
Our resident wildlife & travel photography expert, Graham Baird, will guide you through this tricky discipline with classroom & outdoor workshops, guided walks and game drives, all designed to teach the vital techniques which are essential to photographing nature.


The weekend takes place at the beautiful Bushwa Private Game Lodge in the malaria free Waterberg Mountains, a mere 200km from Pretoria.
Bushwa is home to Rhino, Kudu, Eland, Giraffe, Zebra, Impala, Jackal and other plains game as well as over 300 bird species, not to mention prestine bushveld plant, insect & reptile - life.

Facilities at the secluded private Bush Camp include 7 twin bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, bar & lounge area, communal dining area, boma, dining room and conference room.

The camp is fully serviced with breakfast, lunch & dinner lovingly prepared by the Bush Camp’s dedicated staff.
Our weekend starts with a late arrival at Bushwa on a Thursday afternoon and after a weekend crammed with photography we depart again on Sunday afternoon.
The weekend course covers:
- equipment choice & preparation
- techniques for quick, accurate exposures
- compositional rules for nature
- coping with contrast
- natural lighting conditions
- artificial lighting conditions
- close-up & Macro photography
- use of reflectors & diffusers
- planning & anticipating your photographs
- creative camera techniques for nature
Activities include:
- early morning guided game drives / walks
- classroom audio visual lecture sessions
- lighting / technique workshops
- afternoon guided game drives / walks
- debriefing & review session
Equipment Requirements
- a Single Lens Reflex Camera
- a Telephoto lens with a minimum focal length of 200mm
- sufficient memory
Cost
-includes accommodation, all meals as well as photographic activities.
